Week 3 EOC: My Demographics

According to our text book, I fall into the millennial category. Millennial generation is very fluent with digital technology. This is the age of information technology, Millennial are in their golden age.  Millennial are generation first generation to grow up with technology. “They don’t just embrace technology; it’s a way of life. The Millennial were the first generation to grow up in a world filled with computers, cell phones, satellite TV, iPods, and online social networks. A recent study found that 91 percent of Millennial are on the Web, making up 32 percent of all U.S. Internet users. According to another study, 77 percent of Millennial frequent social networking sites and  71 percent use instant messaging” (Marketing: An Introduction for Education Management Corporation, 10th Edition, Gary Armstrong and Philip Kotler, Pg 74.) Book gives a very similar description to my characteristics. But when I was in Sri Lanka, I had very limited resource to technology. It changed really quickly soon as I moved to USA. Now I do not know what I would do without my internet and computer. My computer is the tool that allows me to survive, I’m learning to create for my career, and I go for entertainment for internet, such as Netflix, Hulu. My social networking about 50% to 85% done with Facebook. Because this era people have less time to socialize, lots of them have to be texts and facebook. I talk to all of my relative in my country using Skype. I’m also very much attached to my Iphone, that where I check my mail, texting, music, some time even streaming movies. I no longer go to the computer check go check mails, or listen to music. This is very most millennial attached to the newest technology, This make it easier market company to getting reach with these younger generation.

EOC 2: Video Gamers' Struggle

There lot kids in school who wants to buy games and play all day. I’m still a video game fanatic, but like most of the gamers I want to play the new and improve games that are coming out  everyday. Video gaming company need lower the prices of these new games. "videogame sales plunged by a record 29% year over year, according to market-research firm NPD Group. Meanwhile, sales of consoles such as Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox 360 and Nintendo Co.'s Wii plummeted 38%". ( Wall Street Journal, Videogame Makers Can't Dodge Recession, pg.1). Simple explanation behind these loss, Video game are expensive beyond there are value. A new game cost about 60.00 to 70.00. Console like Xbox 360 are charging for online gaming.  Upgrade are being sold are whole new purchase. For example to use the Xbox Kinetic t person would need newer version of Xbox 360.  These expense are going high up. It loosing the value of the gaming . 18% of Americans who play games are teens, the 33% of who play games are matures according to demographic data collected by Entertainment Software association.  Most teens can not afford 60.00 or 70.00 game, same goes to the colleges student.  "The weakness stems from more consumers sitting on the sidelines and tightening their purse strings, especially as they wait for Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony Corp., the maker of the PlayStation 3, to cut the prices of their consoles. Many console and PC game sales are also being cannibalized by digitally downloaded games and alternative entertainment sources like Apple Inc.'s iPhone"( Wall Street Journal, Video game Makers Can't Dodge Recession, pg.2) The solution us petty gamer have these days is to play mobile game or start playing online video games through the computer. The point of these game are to give you thrill, relax you of other problem. If buy a game it also give you headache , why buy them ? Gaming company's need to look at their pricing, match them with demographics and survays find and way to lower pricing.

Great customer service is requirement to any business. Customer service is greeting to everything Customer service is where the business owners can prove their loyalty to their customers.   Customer Service is should have great problem solving skills. “Marketers must be careful to set the right level of expectations. If they set expectations too low, they may satisfy those who buy but fail to attract enough buyers. If they raise expectations too high, buyers will be disappointed. Customer value and customer satisfaction are key building blocks for developing and managing customer relationships. “(Marketing: An Introduction for Education Management Corporation, 10th Edition pg. 7) Business should go to extra mile to solve the customer’s problem. Customer service departments should include reliable, clam staff. Create good products that customers find valuable, and very useful. Consumers usually face a broad array of products and services that might satisfy a given need. How do they choose among these many market offerings? “Customers form expectations about the value and satisfaction that various market offerings will deliver and buy accordingly. Satisfied customers buy again and tell others about their good experiences. Dissatisfied customers often switch to competitors and disparage the product to others.” (Marketing: An Introduction for Education Management Corporation, 10th Edition pg. 7) Products should satisfy customer needs, these things create a relationship with the customers; keeps the customer coming back for more products.
